It's been a crazy year here in Missouri. While my husband looked for work in his very specialized field, I took a job at a call center. It wasn't a horrible job if you can handle people being rude and/or yelling at you all day. Plus there seems to be a lot more co-worker drama at a call center than any other job I have worked. While I was happy to have a paycheck and insurance, I will probably never work at a call center again. It's just not my kind of job.
But while I was working, my husband was able to study for and obtain his Cisco certification. He then decided to take that certification and his previous electrician knowledge and start his own business. It did fairly well, he had a few jobs right away, but it wasn't taking off like we needed it to, so he kept looking for full-time employment. Eventually, he found a great job using both his previous electrician experience and his new Cisco knowledge ... the kicker is the job is back up in the Chicago area. Yep, that's right, we're moving back to Chicago!
I won't bore you with crazy stories, or my grumblings about Missouri - if you really wanna know, you can ask me. I am just so excited to be going back home! I've missed living near stores and restaurants, hi-speed internet, and my FRIENDS! Don't get me wrong. Missouri wasn't all bad. I met some great people, I am eternally grateful for my husband's grandma putting up with us taking over her house for the past year, I am thrilled beyond belief that his family took me in with open arms, and I'm glad I got to experience life here. There is something to be said for living out in the sticks, it's just not the life for me. I'm sure I will cherish our annual visits though. It's just not ... home... ya know?
My move date is Memorial Day Weekend. That gives me just under 3 weeks from today to pack up (thankfully, most of what we own never made it out of the storage unit. I was frustrated with that fact for the past year, but so happy for it now!), do address changes everywhere, close bank accounts (we have a habit of picking local banks that don't have branches in other states), and tying up all other loose ends.
Right now hubby is in Chicago, working, while I am down here. I can't wait for my little family to be all together again!
